This web site is dedicated to ALL those who served aboard the
U.S.S. Canberra. From her launching as a heavy cruiser, CA-70, through her
rebirth as the second of the U. S. Navy's guided missile cruisers, CAG-2, we
will never forget the time we spent aboard. Some of our shipmates lost
their lives, others were wounded, one was imprisoned as a POW, all sacrificed.
This web site is to honor all of them, as warriors, and as keepers of the peace. |

Our hope is that those of our shipmates who wish to do so, will help us to
make this site into an on-line
cruise book. We
welcome anything that you would like to share. Photos, videos, audio
tracks, sea stories, whatever, we'll take it all. Anything that gets posted will have an acknowledgement for the contributor
on the
In Appreciation
page. From the ship's launching and duty in the Pacific Theater of
World War II, through the cold war and Viet Nam; from the gun line to the
chow line. From liberty in Boston or San Diego; to Melbourne and the Med.
This site represents the history of a ship and her crew. |

The
Ship's
Company section is intended to help add to the cruise book nature
of the site. There are pages for each division, where shipmates submit pictures
of themselves (then and now).
We believe that this
will be a great opportunity to get some of the old hands reacquainted. In order
to ensure their privacy, we have removed the e-mail addresses and replaced them
with a symbol to indicate the shipmate does have e-mail. You may initiate
contact with an individual shipmate by clicking on the e-mail icon. |
